Playing the clarinet is Easy! How to play the clarinet, crossing the break, altissimo register

But it must be done the right way.

Existing clarinet methods do NOT show you the right way.

"Playing the Clarinet is Easy!" DOES.

Most teachers have never been taught the true fundamentals of clarinet playing.

Follow the methods in this book and your clarinet teaching will be revolutionised.

The author, Peter Moore, himself a victim of poor teaching methods as a beginner, understands fully the problems of overcoming faults. With 50 years experience of learning, playing and teaching the clarinet, Peter has researched and developed his highly successful teaching method.
Self-taught from supposedly well respected tutor books, for 20 years Peter struggled with the conflicting information until he was finally put on the right road by Pamela Weston. His subsequent research and experiments in teaching methods has resulted in his unique approach. He has proved, over more than 27 years of teaching, that the standard approach to clarinet teaching is deeply flawed. The most well-known clarinet tutor book was first published in the 1930's. It has spawned many copies, all saying exactly the same - and all still saying it today.

We have landed men on the moon since their methods were devised, yet until now, no-one has published a better way.

Clarinet tutor books only teach music.  They do not show you how to play the clarinet properly.  If they do try, many of them get the basics completely wrong.
Playing the Clarinet is Easy! has been created to be used alongside any other book or method. Playing the Clarinet is Easy! shows you how to teach your pupils to play the clarinet effortlessly and correctly. Photographs of correct fingering and how to avoid faults show you what your pupils should be doing.
You learn to teach CORRECT clarinet basics - from making the first sound to playing the highest notes.  Low notes, clarion notes, altissimo notes - all this with detailed photographs of correct fingering positions. In this method "break" problems simply don't arise - because you teach the correct fingering from the start.

All of the standard tutor books suffer from the same faults.

1) NONE of them show you how to teach and develop a good clarinet embouchure.
2) ALL of them show a "dumbed-down baby-talk" clarinet fingering method to begin with.
3) ALL of them teach the bottom register to start - in some cases that is ALL they teach. We say - and prove - that this is the WORST way to teach the clarinet.
4) NONE of them show you how to teach tongueing correctly.
3) Few of them show your pupils how to hold and finger the clarinet correctly.
5) NONE of them show your pupils how to change registers from the beginning. Some of them do eventually show the correct fingering - BUT FAR TOO LATE.
6) All of them are guilty of creating a problem with "crossing the break"
7) NONE of them show your pupils how to play the altissimo register.
8) ALL of them are guilty of making the clarinet difficult play.
We can promise you that, if you follow our method, you will be utterly amazed at the results you can achieve. As this book is also designed to be "pupil and parent friendly", your pupils can be helped at home. Your students will be playing smoothly and confidently from bottom E to Altissimo E or even G in weeks, NOT YEARS.
"Crossing the break" is never a problem as the "break" doesn't exist in our book - only in tutor books from the ark.

Here is his latest unsolicited email to us:
Dear Peter,

I had a wonderful experience with your embouchure method Monday. I was giving a lesson to one of my more advanced students, and we were working on Leroy Anderson's "Clarinet Candy".
In a rapid passage from low C to E in the Altissimo register she just couldn't make the E sound. I had her go back to low C and perform the exercise to high G, and then of course to vent the left index finger. The altissimo C came out clear and easy. I then told her to execute the same run without altering the embouchure.

She immediately realized what she had done wrong.

Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

George
