Hello, Sandra!
It less then 24 hours since I've get "Playing clarinet is easy".
I want to say, that is true. Progress has come immediately. As I told
later I'm professional saxophonist and to me there no trouble to change
little things in my way of clarinet playing. Especially: principals of
breathing, fingering position and tonguing. Sax gives more freedom unlike
clarinet. And since I can remember all the time I've played jazz. Very
free music. But I always love classical music and I like to play it on
clarinet. But requirements to play this music is too high. So I have difficulties
with clarinet: how to start sound accurate, how to tongue smoothly, how
change registers without forcing the breathing or without squeal e t.
c. Now I've answers on this questions and it really works! I can't imagine
that my clarinet is so easy to play. Before I struggle with my instrument,
now I feel pleasure when playing! And now I can play classical music.
That's great!!!
Lately I bought at www.stagepass.com "The G. Schirmer instrumental
library "The clarinet collection - intermediate level"".
And I found very serious problem on the 1st page. There is cantilena "Sinfonia
from cantata 156" composed by Bach. I discovered, that I can't do
jumps from chalumeau G to clarino G, from chalumeau A to clarino C clear
and accurate, on the pianissimo. In that time I can play long and fast
passages on forte, but I can't play cantilena on piano at all! There is
CD with this edition, where plays american clarinettist Todd Levy. I listened
to him and envy of. He plays so beautiful and I couldn't understand how
he do it. Now I understand. Now I able to play it not so well like Levy,
but rather well.
I'm happy!!! Special thanks to Bach and to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please give
my gratitude to Peter Moore!
In addition to this letter I'll send another 2 letters with records of
Tyumen jazz ansemble "Crooning Jazz". Records was made in 2004
and record of "Nancy (with the laughing face)" made in 2006
under accompaniment of well known "Jazz school". At that time
I played on alto sax King 660 USA. I hope you'll enjoy.

Dear Mr. Moore,
Thank you for writing the fine material for the clarinet. I purchased
your basic book and after seeing it, ordered all of your clarinet materials.
I am a trained musician. I am 53 and have played both classical
guitar and trumpet. I have played trumpet for over 40 years.
I was lucky to have wonderful teachers on the trumpet.
Well, at age 53 I decided I wanted to try the clarinet. Why?
Because I have always loved it.
Well, I decided to have a go at it. I purchsed a couple of DVDs
and started in early August. They got me through the 1st few notes.
I then saw your page and started using the tips in your books. I
can - at just under two months - play a chromatic scale from low E to
alt G in tune! Ok, it is slow as my fingers are old learners, but
the sound and tone is there.
Your photos have really helped me understand your basic tips.
Today I have been working on your work "Reverie." It is
lovely and I am enjoying it. have you ever considered piano parts
for these?
Anyway, as I played, I felt I really wished to thank you for help with
my new adventure in the wonderful world of music. This is a quick note
to do that. I look forward to any new materials you publish. You
and Dr. Downing are to be commended.
Thank You

Dear Peter and DR.Downing ,
Thank you so very much for the excellent service, and extremely speedy
arrival of my merchandise. The package arrived Monday 19 December 2005.
I am thrilled to recieve these instructional ,I shall now have the
information I so desperatly searched for this past year. I had just about
given up playing the clarinet, as i can not afford a tutor and i also
just wanted to play the instrument for fun.
I had purchased several books , also researched tons of internet
information , none made any real sense. But one day I found your site.
I looked at your samples on the web site and the started to make sense
to me. I have scanned the books Purchased off you and will spend a lot
of in depth reading and practicing time according to your advice.
I feel confident I have finally found a teacher who understands what students
need. Your books will give me the knowledge and confidence to delve into
this wonderfull instrument even at my age of 68 and have fun .
Thanks a million RJ Meacham USA

Dear Mrs Downing!
I would just like to thank you for your books on playing the Clarinet.
They have already been most helpful!
I started to play the Clarinet only a few weeks ago, and my teacher
is
Polish, so we have a great deal of trouble communicating. He is really
good at playing, but it can be very hard to understand the basic
principles of playing. It seems that a lot of good musicians have
forgotten, or even don't know how to explain the most fundamental things.
That is where the "Technique Doctor" comes in. So thank you
VERY much!
Best regards

Received your attractive fingering chart. Although, I haven't tried it
yet I am looking forward to doing that.
I would like to order a couple of dozen for my students. Please send them
and tell me the price, and I will pay for them.
